 | | The Davis Combat Clinic opened its doors April 6, 2008 during a dedication and naming ceremony. The clinic was named in honor of Army medic Staff Sgt. Carletta S. Davis, Charlie Company, 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division who was killed when her patrol hit an I.E.D., Nov. 5, 2007, during combat operations south of Kirkuk, Iraq. KIRKUK, Iraq (Multi-National Corps – Iraq) – The U.S. Air Force dedicated their new Davis Combat Clinic at Forward Operating Base Warrior to U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Carletta S. Davis, April 6, 2008 during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new clinic.
Davis was a combat medic with Charlie Company, 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. She was killed when her patrol struck an Improvised Explosive Device during combat operations, Nov. 5, 2007, south of Kirkuk. The IED also killed three other Soldiers with the 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team.
"The dedication and naming of the Davis Combat Clinic is a small tribute to the sacrifice Staff Sgt. Davis gave in the defense and service to the nation, the Army, the 1st Brigade Combat Team, and the 10th Brigade Support Battalion’s mission in Iraq,” Lt. Col. Joseph R. Novack, Jr., Brigade Support Battalion commander said. He also noted that while Novack had many memorable traits, the two most notable imprints she left with him were her, “passion for being a medic and her smile.”
The smiling image of Davis that adorns the entrance to the clinic would, “welcome patients to one of the best level II medical facilities in Iraq.” He said that future patients would be greeted with that image and should be comforted to know that they will be in good hands. “She would have it no other way,” he said.
This was Davis’ third tour in Iraq. She leaves behind her husband, Thomas and three sons.
