Clinical Geneticist
Recently the medical world has been buzzing over the advances in genetic science. There is good reason for all the excitement. Scientists can now treat diseases and defects on a genetic level. The possibilities are endless for science. As a Clinical Geneticist, you will apply your knowledge of this emerging field of medicine to the treatment of a wide spectrum of diseases and disorders. As part of your job, you will be expected to examine patients to obtain clinical and family histories, determine the need for laboratory testing and interpret test results. Another aspect of your treatment will be to counsel patients or parents on recurrence risks and availability of prenatal diagnosis. You will also be expected to manage medical genetics services and schedule use of medical genetics clinics, and to serve as consultant of genetic conditions and diseases.
