Montgomery G.I. Bill

Montgomery G.I. Bill - FY2007 Payment Rates

As a Soldier in the Army or Army Reserve, you can take advantage of the Montgomery GI Bill and the Army College Fund to pay for your college education. Depending on how long you enlist with the Army, you can get up to $70,344 to help pay for college. All you have to do is give $100 a month during your first year of service. Monetary amounts differ between Soldiers on Active Duty and in the Army Reserve.

Active Duty Benefit - Up to $70,344 to help pay for college.

Reserve Benefit - Up to $22,000 to help pay for college.

The Army Reserve always needs to fill certain jobs in various locations. If you qualify and take one of these jobs, you can benefit by earning more through the MGIB Kicker. Your Kicker can be $100, $200 or $350 per month if you enroll in school full-time. Amounts vary depending on job and location.

Each year in October the GI Bill payment rates are increased to meet the increased cost of education. Although the past years have seen larger increases in the payment rates, this year's modest rate increase has pushed the full-time payment rate to $1,101 a month.
