A PATRIOT Launching Station Enhanced Operator is part of the Army's air defense artillery team. The Patriot missile system teams launch advanced-technology ammunition capable of destroying multiple air targets. The Patriot missile system consists of a control station, power plant, communications relay group and as many as eight launching stations. The PATRIOT launching station enhanced operator/maintainer supervises or serves as a member of a PATRIOT Air Defense weapons system or as a member of an Air Defense activity engaged in operations, intelligence or liaison functions.
Requirements:
- A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area CF
- A physical demands rating of moderately heavy (be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 80 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds)
- Normal color vision
- A security clearance of SECRET
- Normal color vision
- Minimum height of 64 inches
- A Security Clearance of SECRET
- Formal training (completion of MOS 14T course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army ADA School) mandatory
- Be a U.S. Citizen
Duties:
- Placing the Patriot launching system in the field
- Supplying launching station with Patriot missiles
- Operating specific Patriot launcher electronic systems
- Performing preventative maintenance on Patriot launching stations
- Handling Patriot ammunition
Training:
- Nine weeks of basic training
- 11 weeks of training at Fort Bliss, Texas. (Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions)
