15B Aircraft Power Plant Repairer MM:105
Enlisted/Officer/Active Duty/Army Reserve
The members of the aircraft repair team ensure that all Army aircraft remain safe and in a state of readiness. The aircraft power plant repairer supervises, inspects and performs aviation unit, intermediate and depot maintenance on aircraft turbine engines and components.
Requirements:
- A minimum score of 105 in aptitude area MM
- A physical demands rating of very heavy (be able to lift on an occasional basic over 100 pounds with frequent or constant lifting in excess of 50 pounds)
- Normal color vision
- A security clearance of SECRET
- Normal color vision
- Minimum height of 64 inches
- A Security Clearance of SECRET
- Formal training (completion of a resident MOS 68B course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army Aviation School) mandatory or meet the ACASP criteria listed in AR 601-210. Waiver for formal training or ACASP criteria must be submitted to Cdr, USAAVNC, ATTN: ATZQ-AP, Ft Rucker, AL 36362 for approval
- Alcohol and drug abuse as defined below will disqualify any soldier or potential enlistee from this MOS
Duties:
- Remove, replace, clean and store engine assemblies or components
- Disassemble, repair, adjust and perform diagnostics on turbine engines
- Assist in troubleshooting engines and rigging engine controls
- Perform limited maintenance operational checks
- Perform user maintenance on common and special tools
- Maintain shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft engines
- Prepare requests for turn-ins and repair parts and engine components
- Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems
- Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections
- Repair or replace starters, lights, batteries, wiring and other electrical parts
Training:
- Nine weeks of basic training
- Nine weeks of Basic Training, and 11 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Bliss, Texas (Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions)
